You have questions, we have answers. Please read the entire FAQ here as nearly every question related to DSD component is answered below. If you wish to contact us, the submission form is located at the bottom of this pate.
Q1 - What happens when I place my order?
A - You will receive a personal order confirmation by email to the email address you have on record with paypal. We normally send confirmations within a couple of hours, and email is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your order confirmation will indicate the component you've ordered and when it will ship to you. Once your order has shipped, your shipping confirmation will be automatically emailed to your email address used for your paypal transaction. Thank you in advance if you make an order!
Q2 – How do I connect my box, shifter or DSD circuit to my computer? Is it easy?
A – DSD USB components are perfectly easy to use and enjoy and are truly plug and play. Your device simply connects to a USB port on your computer and Windows will handle the rest. Windows will identify it as a game controller, and your applications will use it as such. Note: All DSD components such as button controllers, shifters, pedals and electronics are for a Windows based PC, require a USB connection and need no external drivers to use. All DSD USB Electronics are fully compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Q3 - Do you supply a USB cable with your boxes or shifters?
A - USB Cables are not supplied. All of DSD USB devices use any Type A to B cable. That's the same cable found for any USB printer - they're very common and most folks have extras.
Q4 – How do I program my device in iRacing or other sims?
A – You configure your device as you would with your wheel or other devices. Simply choose a function to which you wish to designate a control and press the button on your button box.
Q5 - How can I mount my button controller?
A - DSD recommends the Ram Mount. Please refer to the below template for mounting diagrams and recommendations and the Mounting page on this site found here.
Download Ram Mount Guide Here
Q6 – Can I connect more than one button controller or USB controller to my computer?
A – Yes, and we have personally verified that iRacing will use multiple button controllers, a wheel with pedals and another USB game pad simultaneously. The USB components we manufacture are fully compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. They are recognized as simple game controllers. Any Windows 7/8/8.1/10 title which will use a game controller will see DSD USB devises.
Q7 - From what material are your components constructed?
A - All of DSD button controllers are made from ABS plastic and other various composite plastics. Shifters are aluminum, steel and other materials.
Q8 – Do you take paypal?
A – Paypal is our exclusive payment management system.
Q9 – What is the method of shipment you use?
A – We ship your order exclusively via the United States Postal Service’s Priority Mail or First Class Mail. The fee for shifters and boxes is 10.95 and delivery is within 2-3 days. When we ship your order, you will get automatic notification via paypal of the shipping information. For international orders, we use the US Postal Service's International Priority Mail service or the US Postal Service's First Class International service. The fee is 31.95 USD. Components that are shipped for free are indicated in their respective listing details.
Q10 - Where do you get your components?
A - All DSD parts are sourced from industrial suppliers in the United States. Materials, enclosures buttons, switches, wiring, circuits, etc. are all obtained from suppliers who have been in business for many years and sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of product annually the world over. All fabrication, design and assembly work is performed in our US Based production facility. We do not offshore our work, and even DSD Circuit Boards are manufactured right in our US-based production facility
Q11 - How long does it take to receive my order?
A - Once you make your order, you will receive a confirmation email from us. From there the average waiting time is 11 days to when your order is received to when it is shipped. The main page of of the DSD site offers our promised shipping dates. We also look to keep as many devices on hand for immediate shipment. The main page of the site will indicate what is immediately available. Please allow a minimum of 10 to 15 working days for any international shipments to be delivered. In some cases it may take longer, and delivery times are solely up to the receiving nation's postal control authorities.
For more detailed information about shipping and related matters, please see this page on the DSD site here.
Q12 - How do you map functions to rotary encoders, on/off toggles and rotary switches on my device?
A - Rotary encoders on all DSD Components are treated as any other button or toggle. You designate a function to an encoder in the same manner by which you designate functions to your other buttons, etc. Functions are mapped to on/off toggles and rotary switches the same way. Our on/off toggles send a button pulse when activated and then the same button pulse when deactivated. They do not close the circuit and are two distinct pulses of the same button function.
Q13 - What is the difference between the rotary encoder and two way toggle switch?
A - The difference is mechanical. The toggles are actuated each time they are pressed in either direction and will repeat a unique function for each time they are pressed in the intended direction. Rotary encoders turn infinitely in both directions, and they simply repeat a function in one direction and a different function in the other.
On/Off toggles as follows: When the toggle is actuated a button press pulse is sent and then again when the toggle is actuated. This pulse repeats whatever button press number to which it is connected and then generated whatever value used in its mapping. The circuit IS NOT CLOSED AND YOUR function is NOT kept active. For example, say you have an On/Off toggle bound to your pit speed limiter or landing gear lever. You press the toggle into the "ON" position and the function is actuated once and then again when you toggle it off. Mapping our On/Off toggles is no different than anything else and ONLY DSD Circuits act this way.
